The Temperance Toolbox

You cannot fix what you refuse to see.

And what you don't know, you don't know.

A sketch collage of tools, a key and a tag reading Skill

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Psalm 139:23-24 (NKJV)

David did not ask God to search him because he thought everything was fine. He asked because he understood something most people spend their whole lives avoiding: you cannot grow past what you refuse to see.

That prayer takes courage. It says, "I am willing to be shown." Most people are not. They feel the friction in their lives, the same patterns repeating, the same relationships breaking the same way, the same goals slipping through the same hands, and they look everywhere except inward. They change the circumstances. They move cities, change jobs, find new people. And the patterns follow them, because the patterns were never about the circumstances.

God is not surprised by what is in you. He already knows. This toolbox exists for your benefit. It is a set of honest mirrors designed to show you what He already sees, so you can stop pretending and start cooperating with the work He wants to do in you.

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

Temperance takes real strength. It is the discipline of a person who has decided to be governed by something greater than their impulses. It is the fruit of a life that has been honestly examined, honestly surrendered, and honestly rebuilt.

Proverbs 4:23 says to guard your heart above all things, because everything in your life flows from it. You cannot guard what you have not examined. You cannot fix what you have not named.

Take all four assessments. Be honest, more honest than feels comfortable. Then bring your results to the Synthesis tab, where your patterns will be cross-referenced and a specific course of action will be built for you. Not a vague suggestion. A plan.

The work starts now. Not when you feel ready. Readiness follows action, it does not precede it.

Tool 01: The Tempermeter

Self-Control and Character Assessment

"A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls."

Proverbs 25:28 (NKJV)

50 questions. Answer based on how you are, not how you want to be. There is no version of growth that starts with lying to yourself.

Note: This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical diagnostic. It does not replace professional mental health care or pastoral counsel. Your answers are not stored or transmitted anywhere.

Tool 02: The Values Finder

What do you live by?

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)

Most people say they believe one thing and live another. This assessment finds the gap between them. It is trying to show you something useful.

Note: This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical diagnostic. It does not replace professional care or pastoral counsel. Answer based on how you live, not how you wish you did. Your answers are not stored or transmitted anywhere.

Tool 03: Pattern Assessment

What patterns are running your life?

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

You cannot renew what you have not identified. Rate how often each statement applied to you in the last 30 days. 1 means never. 5 means always. Be raw. Be honest.

Note: This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical diagnostic. It does not replace professional mental health care or pastoral counsel. Your answers are not stored or transmitted anywhere.

Tool 04: T3 Toolbox Assessment

What is in your toolbox?

"For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?"

Luke 14:28 (NKJV)

You need to know what you are working with before you can build anything lasting. This assessment profiles your functional strengths and deficits across seven life domains.

Note: This is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical diagnostic. It does not replace professional care or pastoral counsel. Your answers are not stored or transmitted anywhere.

The Workbench

Build your action plan.

"Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established."

Proverbs 4:26 (NKJV)
